Articles Worth Reading

  • True and Deceived Followers of Jesus

Scripture quotations are from the NKJV unless otherwise stated.

There are many views about Jesus among the millions of His followers. These diverging opinions form the basis of a wide range of relationships with Him. Included among those who regard themselves as Christians, is a large group of deceived ‘believers’ who are convinced that they follow and serve Jesus.  He, however, does not recognise or accept them as His own (Matt. 15:8-9). Among His true followers all is not well either, as many of them only have a limited knowledge of Jesus and will one day be ashamed before Him because of their unfaithfulness and half-hearted dedication – they will “scarcely” be saved (1 Pet. 4:18). It is of the utmost importance to know exactly where each of us stands with the Son of God since there will be no opportunity to correct poor or non-existing relationships after the time of grace has ended.

  • The Restoration and Destruction of Babylon

The Bible clearly states that the Babylonian system of religion as a false ecumenical body which dominated the world (Rev. 17) as well as the city of Babylon as an important trade centre (Rev. 18) have to be restored before their final destruction when the judgements of God will be poured out upon them during the coming tribulation period. That will mark the end of the unruly nations’ long history which was characterised by arrogant leadership, the abuse of power, rebellion against God and the practising of pagan religions.

  • SA Education and the New World Order

We should also review educational reforms in South Africa to determine to what extent they are paving the way for the Antichrist’s multireligious new world order. Linda Malan of the Society for Christian Higher Education has kindly done much of the research for this article.

The Department of Education in South Africa is still busy finalising its policy on religious instruction in state schools. However, clear pronouncements have already been made about the equality of all religions. In this article, the nature and role of religion in education will be addressed. That can only be done by considering Curriculum 2005 and its epistemology. The following aspects are important for the purpose of this discussion:

Only very archaic terms have been substituted, between brackets, with correlating terms from the New King James Version (NKJV). All pronouns referring to the Godhead are capitalised. Edited by Bernard and Kathleen Reeves of London.

  • Palestinianism and the Kairos Document

An important change in the hearts and minds of many people is taking place with regard to the spiritual and political claims of Palestinians in traditional Jewish territories. These Palestinians are now regarded by some as the original inhabitants and also the spiritual heirs of the Promised Land – and all of that at the expense of Israel.

  • Works of Faith at a Mission Station in South Africa

In modern times there is a strong emphasis on faith with a view to experiencing miracles. In the process, faith is often put in the service of people’s fleshly desires to realise ambitions such as becoming wealthy or being healed instantly. But what is true faith and why do we need it?

Faith is the bond between us and the unseen God. “He who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Heb. 11:6). The most important reason why we should trust God is to save our souls by virtue of the atoning death of the Lord Jesus on the cross. Apart from spiritual matters, everything we do in the secular world should also be approached within the framework of faith. If I look for a job, or whatever I do, I must trust the Lord for success in all my endeavours. When I am admitted to hospital I put my faith in the Lord to bless the medical treatment and use it to promote my healing.
