Jenny Graham, Herald Ministry

Dear Jenny

Two people forwarded your prayer letter of 13 April 2001 (Issue 5) to me and I take this opportunity to respond to it.

I have much appreciation for your emphasis on Israel and our obligation to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. I am strongly encouraging Christians to do the same in many of my articles on www.bibleguidance.co.za

As you rightly say, both Jews and Muslims might be driven to desperation during the days of conflict and war that lie ahead for them, so that some may be saved. We must realise, and I am sure you do, that the Jews have become just as spiritually depraved as the Muslims and any other secular or agnostic nation. We need to pray for the salvation of individual Jews, and also actively evangelise them. Before the Jewish nation accepts the Prince of Peace there will be no peace in Israel. More than 97% of the Jews still outrightly reject Yeshua as Messiah and consequently leave God no choice but to resign the inhabitants of Jerusalem to a melting pot of severe tribulation: "Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because ye are all become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem… Yea I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof… and ye shall know that I the Lord have poured out my fury upon you" (Ezek. 22:19-22).

Zechariah describes the lamentable and most tragic death of two-thirds of the Jews during the coming great tribulation and indicates that only a remnant of Israel (the surviving third) will be saved (Zech. 13:8-9). This is the time of Jacob's trouble from which some will be saved (Jer. 30:7).

At the Second Coming of Jesus, during the battle of Armageddon, a remnant of all the nations will be saved (Mt. 24:30). Only then, whole societies will be saved and entire countries will serve the Lord: "In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land; whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance" (Is. 19:24-25).

That situation will only prevail during the dispensation of the kingdom when Jesus Christ will be the king of the world and rule from Jerusalem: "At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the Lord; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the Lord, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart" (Jer. 3:17).

However, in the present dispensation we are in quite a different situation. The wheat and the tares are growing together in the field, which denotes the good and evil people who live intermingled in the world (Mat. 13:24-30; 36-43). As time passes, the world becomes a more wicked place while the tares proliferate and very obviously predominate in all societies: "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come" (2 Tim. 3:1).

This great falling away to utter immorality like in the times of Noah and Lot is also detrimentally influencing spiritual standards among Christians: "And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold" (Mt. 24:12). However, we should not be discouraged by the rising tide of sin and iniquity and be prepared to take the opposite stand and thereby polarise society (Rev. 22:11).

It is dispensationally completely out of place to promote kingdom-now visions by trying to conquer whole cities, towns, and even entire countries for the Lord by pulling down the strongholds of Satan. No such power or mandate has been given to us. Strategic spiritual warfare is the brainchild of George Otis, a false prophet who explicitly denies the atoning death of Jesus on the Cross, and Peter Wagner who promotes an unbiblical "Apostolic Reformation" to manifest the ecumenically united kingdom of God under the ruling power of prophets and apostles.

NUPSA is following the approach championed by Otis and Wagner and strives to cleanse the land by defeating the enemy and dedicating the entire country to the Lord. It sounds like a very noble cause but it is unfeasible (see the attached articles on the false reformations revival). In this way, time, energy and money is wasted, which could have been more profitably spent on supporting missionaries. People must be saved by plucking them like brands from the fire.

The conducting of prayer walks in other countries (e.g. Turkey, France, Israel and many African countries) are also without a scriptural mandate because the marchers do not visit these countries to witness to lost individuals. They are intent on pulling down the strongholds of false religions such as Islam, and also want to break the powers of bloodguilt as well as the covenants that previous generations concluded with Satan through their idolatry.

It is conspicuous that the sinfulness of the present generation is not related to their own carnal natures, but to enemy strongholds in the air and the effects of the wicked deeds committed by their forefathers. This is complete delusion!

I am sharing these few thoughts with you in the hope that you will reconsider your position of supporting the transformations movement and its associated heresies.

Many Blessings

Johan Malan
