The following review of reforms towards a New World Order from a Canadian perspective is derived from articles written by Carl Teichrib. Much of his material has been included in Gary Kah’s’ book, The New World Religion, 1999. The last part of this review, “The Dangers of Globalisation”, was compiled by Johan Malan.
Maurice Strong is a Canadian-based United Nations Reformer who chairs a special task force which is devoted to this cause. He said that the post-cold war period, since 1990, has become nothing less than “a global experiment in international development.” Strong added that Canada is in a position to make a unique contribution to fulfilling the promise of sustained development made on the 1992 Rio Earth Summit. For this purpose, Canadians should adopt a new vision of their own future within the emerging context of international leadership. All the planetary citizens should be united under one world government to share the common vision of saving our planet and its natural resources from over-exploitation and extinction.
The Canadian Prime Minister said: “We are one world. We in Canada feel this deeply. Responsible international citizenship is one of our proudest shared values.” Various international conferences on globalisation have been sponsored or co-sponsored by Canada to ensure that they are in the forefront of efforts to make the United Nations more prepared for the challenges of the future. Canada has also furthered the path to globalism by contributing to the environmental intelligentsia – the system of thought providing the rationale for the movement. Consider the following quotes from a 1992 meeting of the Canadian Council for International Co-operation:“We need a unified one world order to replace the collectivity of nation states at the international level. The Euro-American model which now dominates the world systematically disables people, destroys the earth and creates dependency on wage labour” “In this [one world] model, politics loses its left-versus-right conflict and moves instead towards a fundamental concern for the health of the ecosystem… Democracy is replaced by biocracy, where not people but life-sustaining systems are the central concern. Democracy remains a need within this model, at both local and global levels, but as one part of the whole system. Participation becomes more than people’s physical presence and deepens to contain a cultural and spiritual dimension… To implement these concepts, we start with bringing the community together and looking at the land resources available. We decide how we want the community to evolve and decide who has control of the resources.”
Likewise, the following statement from the Canadian federal government to the United Nations contains a similar thread – a sustainable world order based on complete world management:“Canada believes the establishment of an international financial and economic system that is conducive to sustainable development must be a cornerstone of efforts to implement Agenda 21. Canada strongly supports efforts to reform international organisations to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in the promotion of global sustainable development.”
Of all the Canadian provinces, Maurice Strong’s home of Manitoba has become one of the most persuasive in furthering sustainable development principles and agendas. One of the most overt of these initiatives took place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in October 1990. Hosted by the provincial government, the World Environmental Energy and Economic Conference (WEEEC), also known as World ’90, was attended by over 3000 delegates from around the globe.
To ensure that global sustainable development initiatives achieve fruition, World ’90 recognised the importance of using public education as an agent for world change. Dennis Chisman and Jack Holbrook of the International Council of Associations for Science Education presented a chapter in the World ’90 report entitled: “The Future Direction of Sustainable Development in the Curriculum.” In it they explained, “The role of the teacher will inevitably have to change. They will become more involved in facilitating changes of attitudes and guiding students to gain values rather than merely teaching factual knowledge… The overall strategy is to design courses so as to prepare for a sustainable development literate society.” In this new approach the importance of values for education, including population control, intercultural tolerance, the transfer of appropriate technology, and environmental literacy is to be stressed. These items eventually made their way into the Rio Earth Summit of 1992.
Disturbing as the WEEEC educational platform was, the most insidious aspect of World ’90 was the presentation on creating a Global Green Constitution based on sustainable development principles. It was explained that this revolutionary global green political machine would encompass a form of human rights:“Popular or not, green governments will oppose any culture if it proves to be prejudicial by means of gender, age, colour, race, religion, belief, sexual orientation, mental or physical condition, marital status, family composition, source of income, political belief, nationality, language preference or place of origin… Each nation’s degree of dedication to educating the people would be the first indication of green government. The education process would centre on the need for a Global Green Constitution.”
Specifying more drastic measures yet, World ‘90 literally called for a global police state to ensure the complete success of the New World Agenda. It is argued that global politics is indeed necessary, but the question is how to achieve binding agreements. Methods such as applying sanctions would have to be instituted against non-compliance that would oblige each nation to abide by a set of principles that are required to guarantee the survival of life on this earth. In order to save the planet from biocide, there have to be very powerful constraints from doing the wrong things. The constraints must transcend national boundaries, be world-around and enforceable. There would be a need for an agency for preventing eco-vandals from acting unilaterally. Enforcement agencies would need the power to act without being invited by the offending nation. Therefore, there needs to be an agency that is acceptable to all nation states on the planet. Effective world governance in terms of a Global Green Constitution is, therefore, promoted.
From this short review of promoting the emerging global society by Canada, the following guiding principles of the New World Agenda are evident:
· A new vision for international leadership. All planetary citizens should unite under a one world government to save the planet and its resources from destruction. The Rio Earth Summit of 1992 and the 2002 Sandton Summit on Sustained Development brought together world leaders to commit themselves to this cause. However, progress towards the realisation of their objectives is slow and induces more and more leaders to opt for the institution of a world government with strong power to enforce decisions and policies on global issues.
· The world state should be based on the ideology of global socialism. Shared values for the equal treatment of all people and the promoting of sustained development will be of supreme importance. Socialistic human rights are identified for the global society aimed at preserving the planet.
· A Global Green Constitution should be adopted in which the fundamental concern is the health of the ecosystem. Democracy should be replaced by biocracy since the health-sustaining systems are of central concern. No other human affairs should take precedence over this concern.
· The world government should provide for an international financial and economic system to ensure equitable distribution of and access to resources. Taxes will also be imposed by the world government to finance its programmes and actions.
· Global participation also has a spiritual dimension. It should become a sacred mission to save ‘mother earth’ and her resources from pollution, over-exploitation and extinction.
· Public education is an important agent for world change. This implies values education rather than teaching factual knowledge. The values include population control, intercultural and interreligious tolerance, environmental literacy, etc.
· Global law enforcement, even in the context of a global police state, will be needed to prevent biocide and eco-vandalism. This mechanism will only work if it is sanctioned by a world government with executive powers.
The dangers of globalisation
As good and necessary as global strategies are for the promotion of sustainable development, world leaders should consider the dire consequences of sacrificing the biblical principle of the sovereignty of nations in favour of a world government. Joint actions by sovereign states on international forums are far better than succumbing to the power of a world government, which can easily fall in the hands of a global dictator who will be in a position to severely abuse his power. Nations who become internationalised by uniting under the constitution of a world government are effectively rejecting God’s order of sovereign nations under His control (Acts 17:26). They join in rebellion against God by adopting multireligious constitutions in which the supreme authority of the Triune God is denied. Such nations will not be blessed by God but fall under His judgement.
The strong emphasis on values education rather than the gaining of factual knowledge will have equally detrimental consequences. It will produce academically incompetent people who will be ideologically strongly rooted in the principles of international socialism and the Global Green Constitution, but who are otherwise virtually illiterate. They will be ignorant propagandists in whom a global consciousness has been instilled.
According to Revelation 13, the emerging world government will be taken over by the Antichrist and used by him to institute the most ruthless dictatorship of all time. He will deprive humanity of their political freedom by taking control over all nations and tribes (Rev. 13:7), abandoning their religious freedom by forcing them to worship him (Rev. 13:15), and refusing the economic freedom to buy or sell to all persons without his number and name (Rev. 13:16-18).
The Global Green Constitution will also become worthless in its aims to protect the life-giving systems of the environment. The Antichrist will use the world government instituted by these naïve leaders to utterly ruin the ecosystems and natural resources of the planet. During His reign of terror God will pour out His judgements upon a rebellious world, thereby aggravating the predicament of those who disregarded Him in favour of humanistic strategies for survival. In Revelation 8, a global ecological collapse is described as follows:“The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown on the earth; and a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up. Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood; and a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood; and many men died from the water” (Rev. 8:7-12).
In Revelation 16, an even worse scenario is described:“Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels: Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth. So the first went and poured out his bowl upon the earth, and a foul and loathsome sore came upon the men who had the mark of the beast and those who worshipped his image. Then the second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man; and every living creature in the sea died. Then the third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood… And great hail from heaven fell upon men, every hailstone about the weight of a talent (50 kg.). And men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, since that plague was exceedingly great.”
That will be the tragic end of rebellious mankind’s global society which was initiated by humanistic efforts to save the planet. Only after Christ has returned, a peaceful and just world government will be instituted. Nature will also be greatly blessed and even the deserts will bloom. The earth will produce food so prolifically that planting the next crop will take place before the previous one has been fully harvested! (Mic. 4:3-4; Amos 9:13-15; Is. 65:21-23; Ps. 65:9-13). Harmony will also prevail in the animal kingdom. The lion will lie down with the lamb and eat straw like an ox because the Lord will make a new covenant with the animals (Is. 11:6-9; 65:25; Hos. 2:18).
Jesus Christ is the only hope for fallen and depraved humanity. Only He can give us a new nature, strong moral principles and the sense of responsibility to properly manage our natural resources. Good Christian education will produce citizens of a high standard to serve God and humanity.
Canada and the entire international community should rather follow the way of the Bible if they wish to achieve peace among the nations, conclude credible international agreements, and also protect the earth and its natural resources against destruction.
